Our FAQ's
1. What Is Beef Jerky?
Beef jerky is lean beef that has been trimmed of all fat, and sliced into smaller pieces. Once this has been completed, the beef is then marinated in a range of seasonings depending on the desired flavour, before being dried to remove as much of the moisture as possible. This preserves the item, and ensures that it is longer lasting than other snacks, creating a high-protein, long-lasting product.
2. Is Beef Jerky Raw?
The short answer is no. Beef jerky is not raw as it is sometimes pre-cooked and then dehydrated, or dried at a low temperature for an extended period of time. It can also be smoked depending on the maker. Due to this process, beef jerky is safe to eat, and does not contain any raw meat.
3. Can I Bulk Buy Beef Jerky?
Of course you can. When you choose to purchase from our store, you have the option to bulk buy in our ‘shop’ section. Our bulk buying options come as either a 1kg pack or 2kg packs, and you can purchase as many as you would like.
4. Are There Benefits Of Bulk Buying Beef Jerky?
When you bulk buy beef jerky, you are getting some incredible deals without even realising it. For example, we offer free shipping on all orders over $200, and as such it will cost nothing to have a couple of 1kg or 2kg bags delivered right to your doorstep.
As well as this, you also make cost savings when you choose our bulk buy bags. In retail stores, you’re looking on average at around $11.95 for 50 grams, whereas buying in bulk works out at $15.50 per 100 grams. These are huge savings, definitely make bulk buying worth it if you’re a beef jerky lover.
5. How Do I Store Beef Jerky?
Unopened beef jerky can be kept in the pantry, the fridge, or the freezer depending on how long you want it to last. Once it has been opened though, you need to be careful. All beef jerky should be stored in an airtight container, or a vacuum sealed bag to limit the exposure to oxygen. If you’re looking for short-term storage, keep it in a cool, dry place and avoid humidity where possible.
For longer term storage, the fridge and the freezer are your best bet, as long as you’ve put the opened jerky in airtight containers.
6. How Long Will Beef Jerky Typically Last?
This depends on how you’re going to store it, and whether it’s opened or unopened. Opened jerky can last up to three weeks in the fridge in an airtight container, or a week, maybe a little more in the pantry. It can also last up to six months in the freezer if stored properly.
If the jerky is unopened, it can last up to a year in the fridge or in the pantry. It can also last up to two years in the freezer if unopened, and should be frozen as soon as possible to preserve freshness.
